LCA is blessed to be surrounded by a magnitude of supportive families who love the school enough to pray for its staff and students. Some of this support even comes from parents whose children have already graduated, such as Lisa Ellison, whose children joined the LCA family in 2001. When Mrs. Ellison’s children graduated, she knew that she was not ready to leave. She said, “When my youngest daughter graduated from LCA, I felt as though I was losing family, an entire community that I loved deeply. So I asked Christy [Monda] if I could stay, and fortunately, she said, ‘Yes.’” With this opportunity, Mrs. Ellison started her Moms in Prayer ministry at LCA in 2016.
Moms in Prayer is an organization that meets on Thursday mornings from 8:00-9:00am in Room 100 of the Lodge. The goal, in Mrs. Ellison’s words, is to “cover LCA in prayer. We pray each week for the Administration, the staff, the teachers, the students and their families. It is to keep LCA before God’s throne, seeking His will and blessings for LCA. It is to also draw moms closer to Christ through prayer and fellowship with one another.” During their meetings, they spend some time reading Scripture and then go around the room and pray. Not only has LCA’s staff and students been blessed by these weekly prayer meetings, but Mrs. Ellison also says that she has been “encouraged and blessed” by the moms of LCA. She says that through this program, she is still making lifelong friends. Mrs. Ellison encourages any mother of LCA to be a part of this ministry on Thursday mornings; joining is as simple as showing up!
