Alumnus Feature || Taylor Burns

There is nothing we love more than to hear from our alumni about their experiences beyond graduation!  Read more from Taylor Burns, one of our 2018 graduates who is currently attending UGA (we’re even more excited about her future plans)!

I graduated in 2018 from LCA. I currently attend the University of Georgia #godawgs. I am working toward my Master of Education in Early Childhood Education and will graduate in 2022! I would ultimately love to come back to LCA and teach; my preference is pre-K or 1st grade! I have always known I wanted to be a teacher since I was very little. I love children and I think being a part of such huge milestones in children’s lives is such a privilege!

The most challenging thing I have had to face since coming to college is the diversity of my university. The diversity of religion and cultures has really challenged not only my faith but my morals and the way I think about the world. The most rewarding thing is just how prepared I was. I had no problem adjusting to classes/work and the professors. I think LCA had a huge part in that.

LCA prepared me in so many ways. I knew the different ways to write papers and how to address people in emails. I also acquired really good people skills that help me in college with school, work, and social life. A lot of the things I am learning about teaching I saw in the teachers at LCA. It is so easy to connect my experiences at LCA to those being taught in class.

I have seen the Lord open and close so many doors. I have learned to appreciate the closed doors and embrace the open ones. I will actually be traveling to Italy this May on a study abroad, so I am super excited about that. I will get to help teach in their elementary schools in Modena, Italy while also getting to experience some cool tourist things and sights!

If I could tell seniors in high school one thing it would be that you’re gonna miss it. You’re gonna wish you could relive it again. Your gonna miss the closeness and personal feel of LCA. You are going to miss the sports games and events. So go to as many as you can. Be involved and make memories.

We cannot wait to hear more from Taylor as she travels to Italy!  We are thrilled to see her success and willingness to faithfully walk through the joys and struggles that college can bring. It is always encouraging for our current LCA students to hear from peers who are walking a few steps ahead and are willing to provide wisdom and encouragement.  LCA is proud to call Taylor Burns an alumni who has used her academic, spiritual, and social foundation to propel her to her goals!
