MEET MARANDA BLUM
My story at LCA began in 2005 on the other side of the wall of my current office. I joined LCA in second grade and quickly experienced home and family. To this day, any time someone asks about my time at LCA, I always reflect on how much God used the people and environment to shape the foundations of my faith and identity. From the classroom to the basketball courts, it was all sacred and shaping.
I have had the joy of seeing God grow LCA in so many ways over the years. I can still remember raising pennies for the playground in lower school and attending the unveiling, watching the walls go up on the Lodge as I prepared to enter middle school and play basketball within those walls, and now seeing the expansion of the campus and various upgrades that serve to make LCA even greater.
I graduated in 2015 from LCA and attended Georgia College & State University where I graduated with a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in Marketing. While finishing my senior year of college, I stepped on staff at the Georgia College Wesley Foundation where God grew my heart and skill set for teaching young people how to live out their faith. I served as Associate Director at GC Wesley for 4 years and my responsibilities included teaching at our weekly freshman service, discipling some of our female staff and interns, overseeing our discipleship program and the ministry’s administration, and managing all of our media and communications. While working at Wesley, I also did freelance social media management and design. I gained so much valuable experience and grew so much in my walk with God in that season of life. I feel so sure that God shaped in me then what I now need to be able to serve well in my role at LCA.
As Director of Discipleship, I now oversee student and spiritual life for the Upper School. I oversee the planning of Alpha Camp, Homecoming, Prom, Breakaway, Chapel and our new small group program, High School SGA, and other student organizations. I also have the opportunity to build relationships with middle and high school students and actively walk out my passion of teaching young people how to live out their faith in today’s world.
When I am not at LCA, you may find me spending time with family and friends, traveling to new places, admiring nature and bird watching, playing around on my guitar or piano, putting together a puzzle, or enjoying a home renovation show and a cup of tea.
It is such a gift to work at the place that shaped me so much and have the opportunity to serve the LCA community in this season. I am so expectant for what God has in store for us this year and am deeply grateful to be part!
