As one of LCA’s first alumni, I can say that it has truly been an amazing journey to watch this school grow over the past 25 years, and it is my joy to now work at my alma mater as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. I have lived in Loganville my entire life. I attended public school through 5th grade, and transitioned to LCA in 6th grade, when they opened their doors for the first year. Being one of five students in the oldest grade level, I was able to experience the growth of the school as we added a grade level year after year until we graduated in 2005. Seeing where we are today in comparison to day one, I can say that the Lord has been so good to us!
From about the age of 5, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Growing up, I didn't play house, I played school. I spent my money at The School Box and got all my teacher supplies. It was all I wanted to do! After graduating from LCA, I had a four year plan: graduate with my teaching degree and return to teach history. That wasn’t all God had planned for me though.
After taking some time off of college and working in the photography world for about 8 years, I returned to my studies and graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College with a BA in US History. In His faithfulness and timing, my dream job opened up at LCA teaching MS History. For the past nine years, I have thrived in this position, teaching grades 6-8. When Covid hit, I decided to strengthen my skills in the classroom by earning my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I never imagined I would ever leave the place I love the most, the classroom… Little did I know, God was opening up doors for me to make a transition in the upcoming years.
As the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at LCA, I work closely with our US Leadership Team in areas of scheduling, student support, teacher support, professional development, as well as researching and purchasing curriculum for our teachers. This has become my absolute joy! I love getting to work with our students as well as our teachers on a daily basis.
Outside of LCA, I am one of four children, and I love spending time with my family. I love to travel, play games, go to a Braves game or just sit around spending quality time with my family!
