ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

As we seek to meet the needs of each individual student, we are continuing to find ways to create educational spaces outside of the classroom that stimulate learning through specific activities your student is interested in.

Journey Program

The Journey Program exists to provide a challenging academic enrichment course through a series of collaborative and stimulation activities. The program was originally developed to meet the needs of 2nd-5th grade students who demonstrate an exceptionally high degree of intellectual, academic, creative, and/or problem solving skills. Students are identified as candidates for the program by scoring about the 90th percentile on literacy and math sections of standardized ITBS testing.

During the screening process, students will be evaluated in four categories:

(1) Mental Ability

(2) Academic Achievement

(3) Creativity/Problem solving

(4) Teacher Recommendation.

To qualify for placement into the Journey Program, a student must meet the eligibility criteria in at least three of the four categories. Students must also score at or above the 90th percentile on the Kauffman Brief Intelligence Test (K-BIT) Second Edition, a nationally-used intelligence survey test.
